ASGCT-ISSCR Symposium Highlights Regenerative Medicine Advancements

Next month, ASGCT is partnering with the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) for a three-day hybrid symposium on the intersection of gene and cell therapies. After a delay in 2020 and a transition to a virtual-only offering in 2021, ASGCT and ISSCR are thrilled to be able to bring this event to life in a hybrid format with the in-person event taking place in Madison, WI. Whether you are able to attend in-person or virtually Sept. 21-23, I hope all ASGCT members consider attending.   

Learn about new discoveries from leading researchers in the field. The nexus of cellular and genetic therapeutic advances is a source of profound potential for the entire field of regenerative medicine. The partnership of the ISSCR and ASGCT will highlight discoveries in stem cell biology and the application of gene-editing technologies, which are leading to potentially transformative new therapies for diseases affecting a wide range of tissue and organ systems. This three-day meeting will highlight groundbreaking work developing therapies for diseases of the nervous, hematopoietic, and muscle systems, diabetes, metabolic diseases, and cancer, and feature forward-looking new technologies shaping the future of the field. Scientists and industry professionals from around the world will tell us about the work they’ve done to develop these therapies. We’re looking forward to hearing from many of our own ASGCT Members at this event, including keynote speaker and 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award winner Donald Kohn, MD; ASGCT Past President Michel Sadelain, MD, PhD; Viviana Gradinaru, PhD; Tippi MacKenzie, MD; Seng Cheng, PhD; David Dismuke, PhD; and Bob Valamehr, PhD.  

Choose from flexible attendance options. This will be our second symposium co-hosted with ISSCR, and our first one featuring an in-person attendance option. If you haven’t been to Madison, WI, I highly recommend taking the trip to this beautiful city. Admittedly, I am biased, as it’s also home to my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is known for its innovation in stem cell research, discovery of retroviruses, creation of the first synthesized gene, and location of the first successful bone marrow transplants. Attending in person will allow you to connect with the speakers and network with colleagues in the field. Alternatively, you can attend virtually from the comfort of your home or anywhere you’d like. Both in-person and virtual attendees will have access to symposium programming for 30 days after the event.  

Register at a reduced rate. All ASGCT Members are eligible for discounted registration for this event. Depending on your membership type, you’ll save at least $400 with the discount. If you’re not an ASGCT Member, you can join the Society today and become eligible for the reduced rate.
