Apply for the Congressional Policy Fellowship to Share Your CGT Expertise with Policymakers

Apply through Jan. 15, 2024 - November 07, 2023

We'll place you in a congressional office where you'll share your CGT knowledge with legislators in Washington, D.C. Apply through Jan. 15, 2024!

Calling all prospective Congressional Policy Fellows!

What’s the job?

  • Spend a paid year in Washington DC (September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025).
  • Join the congressional office or committee you want to work for – with significant networking and interviewing help from our partners at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
  • Work alongside the congressional office’s permanent staff to provide advice on scientific issues, draft reports and legislation, help with congressional hearings, and meet with constituents.
  • Help elevate awareness of our field and the transformative impacts for patients that we’re all working to bring about.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have some level experience working in genetic medicine. We welcome those in biotechs and academic labs, from newly minted bench researchers to CSOs. Regulatory and patient access people - we want you too!
  • You’re interested in science policy. We don’t expect you to be a policy pro when you apply – AAAS will provide training to all fellows on the ins and outs of congressional work. We’re looking for people who are passionate about the role of evidence-based science in lawmaking, want to put their scientific training to work, and are ready to pick up new skills.
  • You have a PhD/MD/PharmD/DPhil in some field related to biomedicine (biology, chemistry, genetics, pharmacology, etc).
