Volunteer for a Committee

ASGCT is a rapidly growing community where members of any experience level can enrich their resumes as well as make a positive impact in the field.  

Volunteering to serve on one of 30+ standing or scientific committees is an excellent way to develop your leadership skills and represent your organization. Applications are accepted year-round with the appointment process beginning every March.

Vote in the Annual Election

Every spring, Members and Transitional Members have the unique opportunity to vote in the election of ASGCT’s Board of Directors, empowering them to directly influence the leadership that will represent both the Society and the scientific community. By casting your vote, you can play a critical role in shaping the future of ASGCT.

Publish your research in the Molecular Therapy Family of Journals

Review Submitted Journal Articles

As a member of ASGCT, you have the opportunity to review articles submitted for our family of Journals. 

All submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process before publication and our members can play a key role in assuring articles meet Molecular Therapy’s high standards. If you are interested in reviewing articles please send an email of interest to journals@asgct.org with the name(s) of the journal(s) you would like to review for and your areas of expertise. 

In addition, ASGCT members are welcome to pitch editorials, opinions, and news to our editors-in-chief, which could be considered for publication in the journals.

Submit Scientific Abstracts for the Annual Meeting or Other Conferences

ASGCT features scientific abstracts at our Annual Meeting and specialty conferences. This is an invaluable opportunity to share targeted CGT research with a diverse audience of experts. The ASGCT Annual meeting alone now features more than 1,500 accepted abstracts!

In addition, ASGCT offers the first and presenting author of an accepted abstract discounted registration rates to attend the event and present their findings.

Volunteer to Review Annual Meeting Abstracts

Each year, ASGCT's Annual Meeting showcases over one thousand abstracts and posters, carefully curated through a comprehensive review process. Beginning in September, the Society invites member volunteers to serve as abstract reviewers, who typically dedicate approximately 10 hours to evaluating submissions during February and March.  

Reviewers are also given the opportunity to co-chair oral presentation sessions. Interested members can email abstracts@asgct.org to get involved in this critical selection process.

Suggest Annual Meeting Sessions

As a member of ASGCT you have the opportunity to submit Session proposals for the Annual Meeting. These windows are open for a limited time every fall, so if you have a session you’d like to suggest, watch for those emails!

Nominate Yourself or Others for Awards

ASGCT will award a $100,000 Career Development Award in six broad topics and up to two $100,000 awards to underrepresented populations Fellowship in Gene and Cell Therapy as well as various awards for the Annual Meeting.
