New Networking Opportunities at the Annual Meeting

People come to the largest gathering of professionals in gene and cell therapy—the ASGCT Annual Meeting—to connect with one another and learn the latest and greatest of what is happening in the field! We heard from some of our committees tasked with reaching broader audiences and created new networking opportunities tailored for different types of attendees.

To those who may be interested, please join us for these free events happening onsite at the Los Angeles Convention Center to enhance your time in LA!    

Patient Advocate Connection Luncheon  

To kick off the first day of the meeting on Tuesday, May 16, from 12–1 p.m., in Room 406, this buffet lunch will gather a community of stakeholders interested in networking among patient advocates,  including those from non-profit and industry, individuals with a rare disease, caregivers, and those with scientific or clinical expertise.  

This luncheon is hosted by the Patient Outreach Committee and directly follows the committee’s workshop,: Accessibility of Gene Therapies. Patient advocates can also take advantage of our Advocate Advisors Program during this time. Volunteers from ASGCT’s standing and scientific committees will act as a resource and answer questions related to the content at the Annual Meeting. Advice will be shared in hopes that any new or unfamiliar meeting goers will have a valuable experience at the ASGCT Annual Meeting!

Women in Gene + Cell Therapy Networking Reception 

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is excited to host this reception on Thursday, May 18, from 6:30–7:30 p.m., in the outdoor Petree Plaza. After visiting the poster hall and before heading out to dinner, spend a moment with us to celebrate and inspire the contributions of Women in Gene and Cell Therapy. All are welcome, especially women in any areas and levels of their careers, to join us for a lovely gathering with free drinks and appetizers. You’ll hear short messages from female leaders at ASGCT, along with an opportunity to foster meaningful connections.

Global Gathering Breakfast 

The Global Outreach Committee is welcoming our international attendees to come together over coffee and a light breakfast on Friday, May 19, from 7:00–8:00 a.m., in Petree Hall C. ASGCT recognizes that many people from different areas of the world may be facing similar challenges in gene therapy research and development, so this time can be used to build new relationships to foster advances in the field.  

This breakfast leads into the Global Outreach Committee symposium,: Fostering Global Collaborations to Advance Gene and Cell Therapy Research in LMICs. At the start of the symposium, remarks will be shared about the value of ASGCT for individuals working outside of the US and how their career was impacted.
