This symposium will feature a roundtable discussion representing the viewpoints of a number of individuals involved in the creation and testing of mRNA and adenovirus vaccines for COVID-19. Topics will include lessons learned through clinical validation of vaccines, adverse events, and real-world events as well as opinions on boosters, variants, and durability. The session will also include discussion on experiences in developing vaccines in the context of a pandemic touching on media attention, Operation Warp Speed, and other unique facets of the rollout of the vaccines on a global scale.
This symposium will address access to gene therapy in low- to middle-income countries (LMICs), with a focus on the middle-income countries of Brazil, India, and South Africa, due to their infrastructural capacity to provide gene therapy combined with their proximity to low-income countries.
