ASGCT Offers Up To $245,000 in Career Development Grants

ASGCT's New Investigator and Trainee Committees - June 11, 2018

In support of trainees and members developing their careers, the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy will distribute up to 14 grants worth a total of $245,000 in 2018. Applications are accepted through August 1.

Applications Due August 1

The American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is proud to announce 14 new grant opportunities to support members developing their careers. The Society will award up to $175,000 in Career Development Awards and up to $70,000 in Career Travel Awards as part of the program developed during the 21st Annual Meeting—applications will be accepted through August 1.

The Career Development grants are mentored awards to support ASGCT members designing transformative pilot studies in gene and cell therapy as they prepare to transition to independence. ASGCT is particularly interested in funding ideas that would be challenging to fund with normal mechanisms. ASGCT is particularly interested in helping applicants generate preliminary data to use in larger proposals (NIH K awards, first-submission R-level funding, etc.). Please see the Career Development Grant Required Documents guide before submitting your application to make sure it meets the elegibility requirements.

ASGCT’s Career Travel grants are designed to support members traveling to gain technical expertise and to promote collaboration between groups as part of 4-8 week guest projects. These awards are intended to be broad in scope and can be used for collaborative projects between academic labs, academic labs and industry/non-profits, gene and cell therapy policy development opportunities with congressional leaders, NIH/NSF, FDA, patient advocacy groups, and more. These guidelines were developed with the understanding that groundbreaking research often happens when different fields, technologies, and knowledge bases come together to work towards a common goal. Please see the Career Travel Grant Required Documents guide before submitting your application to make sure it meets the elegibility requirements.

To submit your ASGCT Career Development Grant application, send your completed materials and required documents to awards@asgct.org and indicate which grant your application is for in the subject line.
