Meet Ben Kleinstiver, PhD: ASGCT Volunteer Rockstar
Learn more about Dr. Kleinstiver - March 29, 2024
Research goals in the Kleinstiver lab include engineering and improving genome editing technologies, optimizing methods to accelerate the development of CRISPR enzymes, and transforming these tools into new classes of genetic therapies.
ASGCT is a volunteer-led organization, and it could not effectively pursue its mission and strategic vision without the commitment of its volunteers. The Society does so through 32 standing, scientific, and board committees supported by more than 400 member volunteers. We recognize our committee leaders for their time, commitment, and expertise, and appreciate their willingness to help ASGCT advance the field of gene and cell therapy in a unique and meaningful way.
Ben Kleinstiver is an associate professor at in the Center for Genomic Medicine at Mass General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) and is the Kayden-Lambert MGH Research Scholar.
Dr. Kleinstiver completed his honours B.Sc. in biochemistry at the University of Toronto, his PhD at Western University, and his postdoctoral fellowship at MGH and Harvard. Some of the research goals in the Kleinstiver lab are to engineer and improve genome editing technologies, to optimize methods to accelerate the development of CRISPR enzymes, and to transform these safer, more effective, and versatile tools into new classes of genetic therapies.
Dr. Kleinstiver leads the Genome Editing Committee and is responsible for directing the committee as they develop programming for the Annual Meeting .
ASGCT thanks Dr. Kleinstiver for his service on ASGCT’s Musculo-Skeletal Gene and Cell Therapy Committee. Our members serve as subject matter experts for Society-led projects, including Annual Meeting programming, through both our standing committees and scientific committees and we could not do the work we do without them.
