The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is seeking a skilled and innovative Instructional Designer to join our team. This role is pivotal in developing high-quality educational programs and courses that cater to a diverse audience, including graduate students, post-docs, academic researchers, industry professionals, and clinicians. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, a deep understanding of scientific and medical content, a desire for creating engaging learning experiences, and a passion for translating complex scientific concepts into impactful learning experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

Course Design and Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement educational programs and courses that align with ASGCT’s mission and cater to various audiences within the gene and cell therapy field.
  • Apply adult learning principles to create engaging and effective learning experiences tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Create engaging and scientifically accurate learning materials using instructional design principles and the latest educational technologies.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the accuracy and relevance of all course content related to gene and cell therapy.
  • Ensure that all educational programs comply with CME (Continuing Medical Education) requirements, maintaining the highest standards of professional education.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) in gene and cell therapy to translate complex scientific content into accessible and effective learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, communications, development, and membership, to ensure the seamless execution of educational programs.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, industry partners, and other professional organizations, to identify educational needs and opportunities within the field.

Technology Integration:

  • Utilize e-learning platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and other educational technologies to deliver cutting-edge content effectively.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in instructional technology to continually enhance the learning experience.
  • Experience using project management software, such as ClickUp, to effectively organize tasks, track progress, and collaborate with team members.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of ASGCT’s educational programs and courses.
  • Analyze feedback and learning outcomes to continuously improve course content and delivery methods.
  • Track and report project data, including key metrics and outcomes, to assess progress and adjust as needed.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the instructional design process from concept to completion, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and correspond with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure smooth communication and alignment throughout the project.
  • Manage project timelines, ensuring that all milestones are met and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional design, particularly in the medical association space.
  • Proven experience working with subject matter experts (SMEs) in a scientific or healthcare context, preferably in gene and cell therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop courses for a variety of audiences with varying levels of expertise.
  • Proficiency in e-learning development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Strong knowledge of multimedia design, including video and graphic creation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to present ideas, designs, and project updates to internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and consensus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Experience with non-profits, associations, or academic institutions strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 2 weeks per year.

Salary

The annual salary for this role begins at $60,000.
